Language Learning
Custom Menu (English Tenses)

Summary

This project aims to help learners identify the differences between English tenses, developing their skills through an interactive learning experience. The design relies on animated and interactive elements - available in the authoring tool.
Expertise

Having a background in English language teaching and learning allowed us to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on this project.
Personalisation
The personalised learning experience allows the learners to pick and choose the area of learning English that they struggle with or they are more interested in.
Customisability
The custom menu solution, showing the options for all the different tenses, can help the user to have a quick overview of all the tenses, then by selecting one of them, dive deeper into one.
Design Process
Analyse:
Identify the areas of grammar that is unfamiliar for the learners or parts of the language that they need to develop.
Evaluate:
The HTML file can be easily built into an LMS to track learner engagement and test results. It can be used both for assessing previously learnt units and to make decisions about progressing to a higher level on the course.

Design:
I wanted to create a circular menu shape to provide the learners with sections to choose from and progress to. The main design idea is based on autunomous and evidence based learning.
Implement:
The learning experience can be used to help learners gain confidence in using the right grammatical structure for everyday purposes. It can be used both for revision and supplementing face-to-face classroom activities.
Develop:
The project has gone through many development stages which influenced its overall content and look. The experience was created in Articulate Storyline with the use of complex trigger combinations and animations.
